Despite the prying eyes of onlookers
Beneath the satin sheets of your resting place
All is broken, yet so strong.
Riding on your shoulders all the way to work
Some days the newness of the day is never felt.
All is hopeless, all is unchanged.
Staying with you when you are in pain
Breaking all the rules of closure with disdain.
All is broken, yet still so strong.
Tempting are the signals for you to lay down and quit.
Struggling mostly because of the purpose
Tears that remain.
They remain when all around you change
They are as much a part of you as your brain.
Sometimes, it’s just the tears that remain
Sticking around when there is great pain
When all else leaves you, it’s insane.

Yes, that awful place and space that feels so gutting.
