Phone Calls

There was such silence this morning. I could almost hear a pin drop. I sat there reading the latest magazine I had. Drinking my coffee. That is when my mind started drifting to a time when there was so much chatter, running through the house, and you could hardly hear yourself think. Those times were the simplest of times and filled with such busy exciting moments. I had three kids. They were my whole world and I stayed at home with them. I sis not know then what I definitely know now, that life changes so fast, things happen and one day you find yourself without all the joyous “firsts” and the excitement of taking care of your children.

Now, I found myself sitting alone in the kitchen. I was trying to fill the void of being without small children in my house, and for once I found myself wishing to go back to that chaotic blessing. Yep, the chaotic blessing of having a house filled with lots of love and lots of good times. I also longed for the times when things were fast paced and when I found myself running here and there just to take my children to their soccer games or their basketball games. The times when you left home thinking you were prepared for the trip yet found you had left something behind in all the hustle and bustle. Yep, those times.

Here lately I have been finding myself hopeful for the phone calls I look forward to from my , now grown and moved out kids. I run to the phone in anticipation hoping that one of the phone calls are one of them. I it not funny that we try to rush through our lives and we fail to see the future and what it could be? I seldom thought about them leaving home when they were young kids. I never really dwelt on the days of having no kids at home anymore and what would I be thinking or doing because of that. Simple  phone calls mean the world, now to me.

Crazy as that sounds, phone calls will to you too if you have kids. MwsR <3

Three Things Challenge

Today’s things are: calendar, knee, jeep    https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/146093077/posts/1932

Calendar~

People keep their calendar’s updated  but they still manage to forget things. Ha ha

A calendar is the un-organized person’s personal assistant. It keeps tracks of things and reminds the person of important events.

If calendar’s could speak they would say things like….

“Didn’t you spread yourself to thin on that week?”

“Why must I remind you of stuff you should already have in that head of yours!”

” I am tired of doing everything for you!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Knee~
Song from a ways back ! Enjoy!
Jeep
Never had so much fun on different terrain
Out in the sunshine or in the rain!
You make my days so fun and amazingly real cheap.
Riding along in my buddy, my JEEP.    MwsR <3
Here is my word of encouragement for this challenge!!!!!
For most you find a pattern on your path. It could be a path with gravel that someone else has spread there, in relation to your own life this is the obstacles and people who make your life hard. Most paths are simple and  it is easy to stay off of the edge, where danger or destruction is.
In life we are following various paths. Sometimes there are obstacles to climb along the way. Perhaps that is the only way to continue your path in life. There will also be very tight places along that path that you must find a way to go through. Your belly may feel like it is tied up in knots at what you are facing. Don’t fret! You have the choice to trim away what is bothering you, or in other words, shorten the time you feel bad, and you can continue to move on. There will be days you feel very low but then there will be days where everything seems to go right.
That is the way of a person’s life path. You can stay “off the grass”   or you can chance it and have the water spray you in the face.
LEGEND/ FOWC July 15th word prompt challenge
https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/79388113/posts/1924931438
THIS IS COPIED FROM FOWC ONE WORD PROMPT
Welcome to July 15, 2018 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.
I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).
Today’s word is “legend.”
Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.
Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.
And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
LEGEND
There was so much more to him than anyone knew
He carried himself with such dignity and assuredness.
Proud on the outside but yet humble in spirit.
His ethics were his stronghold.
He was tall and dark headed
Simple, yet handsome.
He gave all he had into anything he did.
Trying hard for the one’s he loved
He was a legend to his family
But more importantly to his generations to come.
Just because of all he was and all he had done.
Fun!!!/Challenge
My Friend, Haunted Wordsmith tagged me in a challenge. Thank you The Haunted Wordsmith! https://thehauntedwordsmith.wordpress.com/2018/07/13/fun/comment-page-1/#comment-2126  was tagged by A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip! to participate in his Friday Funday Challenge. Thanks! Check out his site! It is a little like musical chairs. He writes: Each Friday l will ask 19 new questions, and nominate 3 bloggers of my own who will answer 16 of my questions, but insert 3 questions of their own and answer those as well, so that they are STILL answering 19 questions.
Rules:
  1. Thank the nominator
  2. Answer Q1-19
  3. Nominate three bloggers and notify them
  4. Each selected blogger must answer 16 of the 19 questions AND insert three new questions to make the 19. [hint, delete three questions you don’t like or have an answer for and replace those]
  5. Q14 and Q20 Must remain intact.
Today’s Questions:
1] Which horror movie monster do you think is the deadliest?
I think Freddie Krueger. The reason is because he inhabits a person’s dreams. No one can stop sleeping thus they cannot stop dreaming. His advantage is immense.
2] Which serial killer do you find the most fascinating?
I think John Wayne Gacy. He looked like a great guy fro the outside, but inside he was evil and sadistic. He fooled a lot of people. It is amazing to me that no one knew anything was going on with him. He was the ultimate disguised killer.
John Wayne Gacy Jr. (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and rapist. He sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 in Cook County, Illinois (a part of metropolitan Chicago).
All of Gacy’s known murders were committed inside his Norwood Park ranch house. His victims were typically induced to his address by force or deception, and all but one of his victims were murdered by either asphyxiation or strangulation with a makeshift tourniquet; his first victim was stabbed to death. Gacy buried 26 of his victims in the crawl space of his home. Three other victims were buried elsewhere on his property, while the bodies of his last four known victims were discarded in the Des Plaines River.
Convicted of 33 murders, Gacy was sentenced to death on March 13, 1980, for 12 of those killings. He spent 14 years on death row before he was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994.
Gacy became known as the “Killer Clown” because of his charitable services at fund-raising events, parades, and children’s parties where he would dress as “Pogo the Clown” or “Patches the Clown”, characters he had devised
.
3] Would you rather know the date of your death or the cause of your death?
I don’t want to know either.
4] Would you rather be eaten alive by wolves or eat another human alive?
Eaten alive by wolves, I cannot kill another human.
5] Would you ever stay the night in an abandoned house that everyone claims is haunted?
Yes, I think it would be fun.
6] Have you ever tried to contact a spirit with an Ouija Board?
Heck no, the things that are evil in this world should be left alone.
7] If you were asked to film a new horror movie, what would the plot be?
.One where people just disappeared and vanished. I think this would lend wy to multiple angles and storylines.
8] Have you ever seen a ghost?
No, but once I was convinced of it in my dreams.
.
9] What’s the strangest meal you have ever eaten?
Pickle and mustard sandwich
.
10] What is your favorite superstition?
That karma will follow a person.
11] What is the creepiest book you have ever read?
I think the one called Flowers in the Attic.
12] What fictional monster movie would you change the ending to?
Frankenstein
13] Do you believe in life after death?
Yes
14] Which 3 questions will you be deleting to add your own in?
I will add them after the 16th question
15] Which urban legend scares you the most?
The Beast of Blandenboro. North Carolina’s urban legend. Vampire Cat Beast, look it up.
.
16] Have you ever knowingly or unknowingly been inside a haunted house?
No but I would, I like haunted houses.
.
17] Is there a serial killer that you feel sorry for?
18] Are there any known paranormal phenomenon’s you have witnessed?
19] What scary movie is your favorite?
20] The three bloggers you are nominating are?
10.In the summer following my birth/ I Challenge You Prompt
https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/2018/07/01/july-writing-prompts/
In the summer following my birth,
isYDVXY4VA
I was five months old. I lived with my mommy and daddy and a sister who was a few years older than me. My dad had a car it was a Chevrolet Corvair. I cannot tell much about it from the one photo I have but it looked like it was a light color.  The year was 1969. http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/09/summer.1969.timeline/index.html
Around this time, my mom was blond-headed and she wore her hair up in a beehive look.  I know my daddy smoked Marlboro cigarettes and worked in a car garage in the local city. I am not certain as to what my mommy did. See, all this time was way to early for me to remember. I do however have accounts of this time in my life given to me by certain relatives. I also have only a few pictures of my life back in the summer following my birth.
One day while looking into a drawer that my adopted mom had, I found a newspaper article. It looked really fragile and old. I looked for a date and day on it and it said August 1969.  The article that caught my attention was one that told of a man getting into a fight with a bar bouncer and that guys friend jumped in and was fatally shot. The article went on to tell of the one who got shot in his chest, died on the way to the hospital.  I wish I had of memorized names and things because this article was about my daddy.
I guess the summer after I was born was a life changing event for me. My mommy had two daughters and her husband was killed. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He also was defending his friend and ended up  dying. Something to say for his loyalty. He was 23 and he still probably thought he was invincible and nothing would happen to him. As does many his age, they sometimes don’t understand just how dangerous things and behaviors are.
I often travel in my mind to that day. I wonder about it, as if I could actually piece together the day’s events. I most certainly can’t. What I can do though is learn from it. Find something or anything I can from that day  in my life. My world was forever changed and a part of me is angry still that he chose to defend his friend, but if he hadn’t what might have been? I do not know why that summer after I was born turned into one of the worst things possible, but it did.
I will forever question that day as I have done most of my life since finding that article. It was meant for me to find, I believe that. No one was ever going to show me it and because of that day, I ended up being adopted by my daddy’s sister. Who is to say , what might have been, and what happened then, no one is left for me to ask, that I have not already asked. I guess I will just have that article etched in my mind with a whole piece of my heart.
We cannot erase history. We cannot change our past. However, we most certainly can take knowledge from our past and make a better “now”, a better “today”.
She Was Magic, writing challenge prompt
July Writing Prompts
She Was Magic
She was magic in that she always transformed the lives of others around her. She carried herself with such assurance that she could have stood tall next to anyone else in the world.
She loved with all the magic in her soul. She was able to make a person feel right down into the bottom of their locked heart. When she was done loving them they knew for sure that they mattered. The could feel that kind of love for all days.
Her magic was more than a touch or a word, her kind of magic permeated everyone she had shown kindness to or had loved. She was like a gentle night’s breeze, one that was felt all over, especially on the hottest nights. She was like fire that made your clothes, and skin hot to the touch, just from the heat alone. Hers was so enduring that even on the worst of her days, she still radiated her magic to those around. They always got the best of it, the best of her.
Her magic was not one all possess but in actually a rare kind, that few possessed. If her magic was bottled up and sold around the world, no one would need or want for anything.
She was magic. Her magic will last long after she is gone. They will talk of it throughout the ages. That kind of magic was just that, magic.
