Thoughts…

So am I the only one who wonders, what defines a friend? What’s it mean to be a friend?

Sure we all have the close BFF‘s but I am thinking about friends in general. Those who talk to on more than an occasion, the ones who act like they want to spend time with you but the two of you never find time to do so. perhaps you both went to the same school together, or maybe you have worked alongside each other. Friends to me are the ones who you spend some common interest with and have regular talks or times you see each other. Friends are so hard to define since we all have different levels of friends. For writing sake, I will just call them more than a stranger and someone who you occasionally get together with, be it at work, school, life, neighborhood, or otherwise.

I personally have a lot of friends. Those whom I consider friends. They are more than just a person I know.

Some friends are those I have met in another facet of my life, or through out my lifetime. Some are those whom I started out as mutual acquaintances but we have slowly or surely became so much more. I often think that people’s definition of friends are as variant as the reasons we think of someone as a friend. I have many different leveled friends. Some I converse with because we share the Diabetes disease, Others are the ones I grew up knowing, and some were once coworkers. You see where I am going with this, I hope.

My question came about because I have many who say they are my friend, yet we do not see each other. We don’t keep plans we make to get together and we rarely, if ever. call each other. I am carefully contemplating that this would limit the title, “Friend”, for them.

Wouldn’t you agree?

In a perfect world, friendships would be like Laverne and Shirley, or Thelma and Louise. Maybe just maybe society has changed the meaning of a friend. After all there is a phrase which says, “Strangers are friends we have not met yet.”

What do you think?

Has society changed the meaning of a friend? Or is it just an individual preference or thought as to who is a friend?

This leads me to my thoughts of…

  • I think if you are friends with someone you should let them know that. Lol
  • You should call them up on the cell phone or home phone ever so often.
  • Perhaps you could go and visit them.
  • Plans should be made more often than not.
  • A person should try very hard to show and tell another individual how they feel. Be it a friend or a loved one.
  • We all need friends and we all should certainly act like a friend.

Whatever the definition of friend means to you.

Let me know what your thoughts are?

Whispers, By MwsR

Not oblivious at all

Withstanding, judgements of y ‘all.

Things you have little bravery to say

The stuff that made up one day.

Others participate with you

They know not who they speak to

You will ultimately betray them too.

Stuff that definitely is not right

Things that keep me awake at night

Conversations that turn into condemnations

A recipe for someone’s sadness.

No need to apologize

I know it would be nothing but lies

Testing the limits of being human

You spill the lies like doctors inject serum.

Rest assured, your day will come

You will subject, just like every one.

Underneath your exterior you stink

I would not close my eyes around you, not even blink.

Everything has an equal or opposite reaction

Perhaps for you it will be different in action

Whispers because you are cowards

I have no use for that, going forwards.

Thor’s Well

Oregon, USA

In rough conditions at Thor’s Well, also known as Spouting Horn, the surf rushes into the gaping sinkhole and then shoots upwards with great force. It can be viewed by taking the Captain Cook Trail from the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area visitor centre – but for your own safety stay well back, especially at high tide or during winter storms.
