Three Things Challenge/July 16th

https://thehauntedwordsmith.wordpress.com/2018/07/16/three-things-challenge-16-july-2018/

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge!

Everyday I post three seemingly unrelated things and the challenge is to find a creative way to use those things.

This can be anything you want it to be…the point is to have fun, share, and be inspired.

To participate, simply link to this page (creating a pingback) or posting a link to your contribution in the comment section.

Remember, anything goes…just have fun!

Today’s things are: tower, tidal wave, shark

Tower

I will not let your opinions, your thoughts tower over me.

I refuse to dine at the table of your sarcasms and disapproval.

When I find myself, completely

It will be me who will tower over you!

Tidal Wave

Once my friend and I were floating in the ocean at a popular beach. She suggested that we just float as long as we could and also wanted us to take a nap, and when we awoke we would see how far from shore we would be.

Well, we did just that very thing. Time got away from us. When we both looked around in surprise we were carried over the forceful tidal wave into the lull in the ocean. The people on the beach looked like ants. We had floated so far away from shore. We had to hand paddle against the tidal waves that oppressed our floats, till finally making back to the shore.

Wow, what a time that was, took a long time. Safely, we made it back after much effort and certainly needing to rest and take yet another nap, lol.

SIDE NOTE… I used tidal waves instead of tidal wave, hope that is okay.    MwsR ❤

Shark

In your lifetime you will encounter different personalities. The one that comes to mind for this prompt is the one that is the “shark“. This personality is a person who will “bite” you for no good reason. Just because they want to, usually. Be careful who you allow into your life. There will be bottom feeders, fish, and the ones who are a shark.

Personally I prefer the fish. The fish is someone who you have no worries from, whom you have something in common with, possibly just like you.  The bottom feeders follow you just to get what you have or leave unattended. They can be tricky and sneaky. Be one the look out when you have those.

Moral of this short blog Not every thing/everyone that swims in your sea is a friend, watch your back.  MwsR ❤

FOWC challenge/Memory

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

Memory

“I remember a time in my life…”

It was a bad day for me. I had problems with my grades in school. My teacher decided it was a good idea to let fellow students pass out things that had been graded. This one time was in my math class. Anyone that knows me probably has heard me say, “Math is not my best subject”, and let’s just say I did not pass this certain assignment. A girl who always made above average grades was asked to pass this certain graded assignment back out to the people whose names were on the top of them.

I remember hoping that my grade was a good enough one that this girl would not see and hopefully that she would not let anyone else see it. Unfortunately she would look at the grades on them as she passed out. She walked up to my desk and in front of everyone that was looking or listening, she declared my “D”. I was so embarrassed I wanted to crawl under my school desk. She looked at me as she handed to me and said, ” At least it isn’t failing.”  AT LEAST IT isn’t failing!!!! I WAS SO EMBARRASSED , for the second time in a row.

Needles to say I hated those kind of days. Not to mention walking in the front door at home and having my parents see it and having to deal with their reactions and being disciplined. That was a time I will always remember.

I was never good at math, but on the plus side… I don’t need math to write!

For most you find a pattern on your path. It could be a path with gravel that someone else has spread there, in relation to your own life this is the obstacles and people that make your life hard. Most paths are simple and  it is easy to stay off of the edge, where danger or destruction is.

In life we are following various paths. Sometimes there are obstacles to climb along the way. Perhaps that is the only way to continue your path in life. There will also be very tight places along that path that you must find a way to go through. Your belly may feel like it is tied up in knots at what you are facing. Don’t fret! You have the choice to trim away what is bothering you, or in other words, shorten the time you feel bad, and you can continue to move on. There will be days you feel very low but then there will be days where everything seems to go right.

That is the way of a person’s life path. You can stay “off the grass”   or you can chance it and have the water spray you in the face.

LEGEND

There was so much more to him than anyone knew

He carried himself with such dignity and assuredness.

Proud on the outside but yet humble in spirit.

His ethics were his stronghold.

He was tall and dark headed

Simple, yet handsome.

He gave all he had into anything he did.

Trying hard for the one’s he loved

He was a legend to his family

But more importantly to his generations to come.

Just because of all he was and all he had done.

Song Share”Angel”/ Did You Know?

I SO LOVE THIS SONG! HOPE YOU WILL TOO!

Angel,  by Sara Mclachlin

Here is what I found out this song was suppose to mean…
  • McLachlan wrote this about a drug-addict’s struggles with the world. The “angel” symbolizes the drugs the addict gives in to repeatedly. >>

    Holly – Pensacola, FL
  • As McLachlan explained on VH1 Storytellers, this song is about the Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboard player Jonathan Melvoin, who overdosed on heroin and died in 1996. McLachlan didn’t know him and was never a heavy drug user herself, but when she read about his death in Rolling Stone, she felt a connection, as she had just come off two years on the road where “there’s nothing constant but everything becomes the same.”
  • On the same Storytellers show, McLachlan said that this song only took a few hours to write, stating it was a “very easy labor.” >>

    Suggestion credit:
Stacy – Sunbury, Australia, for above 2
  • This is the song McLachlan’s fans ask her about the most, and the one many seem to relate to. “I have the same real, visceral attachment to it that that they do,” she told the Charlotte Observer. “It was one of those beautiful songs, for me, that came out quickly and easily. I felt like more of a conduit. There wasn’t all that blood, sweat and tears attached to it. It just kind of happened. Those are blissful moments that seldom happen for me as a songwriter.”
  • This was used in the 1998 movie City of Angels during a pivotal scene. McLachlan said this was the best use of any of her songs in a TV series or movie. >>

    Suggestion credit:
    Jamie – Alameda, CA
  • The song has had enduring popularity and has been used in a number of different ways, with some uses (such as in a child memorial) misconstruing the lyrics. McLachan said during a Reddit AMA that she doesn’t mind that it gets used in so many different ways. “I think once an artist puts a song out there, it becomes open to interpretation, and I purposefully leave a certain amount of ambiguity in songs so that people can relate the songs to themselves and to their stories,” she said.

“And it’s for me, it’s a great validation as an artist to know that something I’ve created has gone out there in the world and helped people to heal, or to feel something, in a profound way like that.”

  • This is the song at soundtracks those ubiquitous ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) commercials that have been running since 2007. The spots are a serious downer, showing frightened and abused animals in slow motion interspersed with messages like “they suffer alone and terrified.” They often come on late at night when TV stations donate unsold advertising time to charity, so you could be enjoying an old movie in the wee hours when suddenly you’re looking at a caged kitty that seems to be crying for help. Many change the channel.

A bane of insomniacs, the spots nonetheless proved incredibly effective, generating over $30 million dollars in donations. They also inextricably linked McLachlan, who appears in some of the spots, with abused dogs and cats.

When she made the commercial, she didn’t think it would be a very big deal; she simply donated a few hours of her time and use of her song. And while she supports the cause, she isn’t as passionate about it as many believe. “I love animals as much as the next person, but if I really wanted to attach myself to something, it would be kids and education,” she told the Charlotte Observer in 2015. She also admits that she can’t watch the spots.

Fun!!!/Challenge

My Friend, Haunted Wordsmith tagged me in a challenge. Thank you The Haunted Wordsmith! https://thehauntedwordsmith.wordpress.com/2018/07/13/fun/comment-page-1/#comment-2126  was tagged by A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip! to participate in his Friday Funday Challenge. Thanks! Check out his site! It is a little like musical chairs. He writes: Each Friday l will ask 19 new questions, and nominate 3 bloggers of my own who will answer 16 of my questions, but insert 3 questions of their own and answer those as well, so that they are STILL answering 19 questions.

Rules:

  1. Thank the nominator
  2. Answer Q1-19
  3. Nominate three bloggers and notify them
  4. Each selected blogger must answer 16 of the 19 questions AND insert three new questions to make the 19. [hint, delete three questions you don’t like or have an answer for and replace those]
  5. Q14 and Q20 Must remain intact.

Today’s Questions:

1] Which horror movie monster do you think is the deadliest?

I think Freddie Krueger. The reason is because he inhabits a person’s dreams. No one can stop sleeping thus they cannot stop dreaming. His advantage is immense.

2] Which serial killer do you find the most fascinating?

I think John Wayne Gacy. He looked like a great guy fro the outside, but inside he was evil and sadistic. He fooled a lot of people. It is amazing to me that no one knew anything was going on with him. He was the ultimate disguised killer.

John Wayne Gacy Jr. (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and rapist. He sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered at least 33 teenage boys and young men between 1972 and 1978 in Cook County, Illinois (a part of metropolitan Chicago).

All of Gacy’s known murders were committed inside his Norwood Park ranch house. His victims were typically induced to his address by force or deception, and all but one of his victims were murdered by either asphyxiation or strangulation with a makeshift tourniquet; his first victim was stabbed to death. Gacy buried 26 of his victims in the crawl space of his home. Three other victims were buried elsewhere on his property, while the bodies of his last four known victims were discarded in the Des Plaines River.

Convicted of 33 murders, Gacy was sentenced to death on March 13, 1980, for 12 of those killings. He spent 14 years on death row before he was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994.

Gacy became known as the “Killer Clown” because of his charitable services at fund-raising events, parades, and children’s parties where he would dress as “Pogo the Clown” or “Patches the Clown”, characters he had devised

.

3] Would you rather know the date of your death or the cause of your death?

I don’t want to know either.

4] Would you rather be eaten alive by wolves or eat another human alive?

Eaten alive by wolves, I cannot kill another human.

5] Would you ever stay the night in an abandoned house that everyone claims is haunted?

Yes, I think it would be fun.

6] Have you ever tried to contact a spirit with an Ouija Board?

Heck no, the things that are evil in this world should be left alone.

7] If you were asked to film a new horror movie, what would the plot be?

.One where people just disappeared and vanished. I think this would lend wy to multiple angles and storylines.

8] Have you ever seen a ghost?

No, but once I was convinced of it in my dreams.

.

9] What’s the strangest meal you have ever eaten?

Pickle and mustard sandwich

.

10] What is your favorite superstition?

That karma will follow a person.

11] What is the creepiest book you have ever read?

I think the one called Flowers in the Attic.

12] What fictional monster movie would you change the ending to?

Frankenstein

13] Do you believe in life after death?

Yes

14] Which 3 questions will you be deleting to add your own in?

I will add them after the 16th question

15] Which urban legend scares you the most?

The Beast of Blandenboro. North Carolina’s urban legend. Vampire Cat Beast, look it up.

.

16] Have you ever knowingly or unknowingly been inside a haunted house?

No but I would, I like haunted houses.

.

17] Is there a serial killer that you feel sorry for?

18] Are there any known paranormal phenomenon’s you have witnessed?

19] What scary movie is your favorite?

20] The three bloggers you are nominating are?
