Fact Is…

“New car smell” is the scent of dozens of chemicals.”

“Few odors are as pleasing as “new car smell“—and not just because it’s nice to be in a brand new car. But while the scent may be strangely satisfying, the fact is that it’s pretty much just a combination of 50+ chemicals (known as “volatile organic compounds”) that are released into the car, decaying quickly over time. The concentrations found in a typical new car aren’t dangerous, but among the VOCs that make up much of that new car smell are those found in nail polish, auto fuel, and petroleum.”

Did You Know?

Poem

Just A Moment In Time. by MswR

The passing of the tap water over your fingers,
Each sound that’s listened to as you try to sleep.
Time is not ours to keep.
The smells you remember,
Talks on the phone,
Mostly it’s the times you’ve spent alone.
The opening of a new chip bag,
All the anticipation
Without the slightest frustration.
Mind murals I reflect on,
Things from a life that have come or gone.
Searching not one but all,
Passing someone down a hall.
Eating the best food,
Saving nothing for later,
It was a pleasure that did matter.
A favorite movie scene over and over,
The same joke told a thousand times,
The look in the mirror at a thousand lines.
It’s simple yet quick,
Effortless yet worth working for,
Our moments in time for us to savor once more.

Smells, poem

The smells always get to me…

Someone you are meeting for the very first time,

Lofting from a warmed up oven waiting for your food surprise.

Handshakes that were given at a cordial hello,

The scent from the lotion that the other person used so.

Something that has begun to spoil

When someone exercises and their bodies are hot

A windy day that blows past your nose

Drinking from water from rubber hoses.

Clothes fresh from the dryer

Your armpits after a lot of perspiring.

Savory food fresh from a grill

Someone’s mouth when they are real ill.

Paper from a printing machine

Things sometimes you can’t recognize or cannot be seen.

Flowers in bloom

And a straw broom.

Infections of all kinds

Things that never even crossed your mind.

Dirt from the earth below

Gifts of perfume, from people you know

Sniff and smell

Lots of different things as you can tell.

Too many to list

So much of them are bliss

Smell your world and wonder

Smell your life.
