Diabetes month is here. As some may know, I am a Diabetic. I try my best to help inform others of things to help with their diabetes. Some people do not know what they should eat, and often what may help them. If you are a Diabetic try to say informed and learn as much as you can.

all.

It is that time of year, needing flu shots and trying to keep from getting sick. Wintertime brings with it its challenges. I am Diabetic and I get my yearly Flu Shot each year. This is because being a Diabetic, my immune system is not as strong as a normal and healthy individual. Check out the link provided below.

My Disease by MwsR
It hurts to have you in my life
Each reminder pricks me like a knife.
I struggle to keep you at “bay”
But you just won’t go away.
Walking seems to clear my head
While you try to keep me in bed.
Food I take in
Keeps me, prisoner, again.
Wishing you weren’t here
Want to take away the worrisome fear.
Like an old friend that I have talked to
You remind me of what I should do.
To say my life would be different without you
Is exactly the truth.
You came into my life when health wasn’t important to me
Taught me a lot, you see.
Diabetes, you aren’t my friend
You will however be with me till the end.
So I think I’ll try to be
The one I can be with this disease.
Don’t let fear rule or dictate your life.
Live it with all you’ve been given, even amid the strife.
After all, you came first before the Diabetes,
You don’t need to make a peace treaty.
Fight to live!
Take the time to give it!
Share your knowledge and experience,
With those who search for a difference.

I am a Diabetic. Many years ago I discovered I had gestational Diabetes with the news that I was pregnant. I had no real idea what that meant. I later went on to have two more children. Gestational Diabetes, normally goes away after you give birth but I had it through three pregnancies’ and went on to become a Diabetic Type 2. It has changed a lot about my life and has created an awareness of sorts for me about what I eat and how it affects my health.
If I could have a wish, it would to not be a Diabetic. Since wishes are far fetched to come true, I have to learn to deal with things the way they are. I have to stay informed, I have to accept that I cannot donate my pancreas, ever, and that giving blood is out because of medication that I take to prevent complications with being diabetic. It saddens me to think that there are others out there in our world that have lost limbs, became terribly ill, or worse because of Diabetes.
It seems to be so unfair a Disease. It affects every single thing in our bodies. Every single organ, every single vessel, every tissue, every cell. I hate it. I really do. I have tried as best I can to live with it, but it might one day get the best of me. I often day dream as to what my life would be without Diabetes. I think it would be a lot freer and a lot better, but then again, what I have learnt from having to learn, I find value there.
If you or a loved one thinks you have signs of Diabetes, please get informed, go see a professional, and get help. I would not be here today, had I never sought help. You only have this one life to live, why not make it the best it can be?
Please click any of the links below, they deal with Diabetes, and ways to help others, by purchasing from the American Diabetes Site, they have really nice things and you would be supporting a great cause. A cure for Diabetes needs to be found, not only for me but for others around the world. Thank you!

If you are like me and have been taking Metformin, and you have watched the news lately, there is cause for concern. I will never fully trust medications because they have so many side effects.
I have been on Metformin for many, many, years. About 21 now. It has been a struggle for me in that if I do not eat well beforehand, I can get diarrhea and stomach issues. How many of you have experienced this? It is a daunting task it seems like for me to properly eat during my day. I just have too much else I want to get done, rather than eating. To be honest, a lot of the time I am not hungry at all and the thought of eating makes me nauseous.

I was stuck taking Metformin when I was first diagnosed as being a diabetic. It along with Glipizide was the two drugs that I had to take. Through the years, I have been off of Glipizide but have regularly and faithfully taken Metformin. I have two doses of 750 mg. a day to take. That can wreak havoc for me if there is not enough to combat its effects in my stomach.
Perhaps you or a loved one have been experiencing things like nausea, stomach cramps, hot flashes, bloating, or constipation? Just to name a few of the side effects. There are also headaches, decreased appetite, muscle pain, and vomiting’s among other symptoms that go along with too much Metformin in your body.
It truly is terrible if you are going through it. On one hand, you are to eat, and then take your Metformin, or eat alongside taking it. As if that is not hard to remember for me, you also have less of an appetite as one of the symptoms, which is what I think I experience. That is hoodoo voodoo, to a person’s body. I cannot stress enough that you should see a doctor if you are experiencing these or any other symptoms. Listening to the news can create panic. Search and ask your doctor.

Good luck to you all in your battle against Diabetes!
As with any information, seek medical help and answers before trying something new on your own. I did not write this nor do I agree or disagree with the article. I am just passing along information so you can make a informed decision on your own.
