Word of the day

Word of the Day :

ambivalent

adjective am-BIV-uh-lu
Definition
: having or showing simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings toward something : characterized by ambivalence

Did You Know?
The words ambivalent and ambivalence entered English during the early 20th century in the field of psychology. They came to us through the International Scientific Vocabulary, a set of words common to people of science who speak different languages. The prefix ambi- means “both,” and the -valent and -valence parts ultimately derive from the Latin verb valēre, meaning “to be strong.” Not surprisingly, an ambivalent person is someone who has strong feelings on more than one side of a question or issue.

Examples
Bianca was ambivalent about starting her first year away at college—excited for the new opportunities that awaited but sad to leave her friends and family back home.
“A new study from LinkedIn found that many people feel ambivalent in their careers—wondering if they should stay in the same job or take time to invest in learning new skills or even change to a new path altogether.” — Shelcy V. Joseph, Forbes, 3 Sept. 2018

Not In Vain/ Poem share

Not in Vain

The day bursts out whether we are ready or not

It is a scene for our life’s living spot.

We walk through it either alone or together

Trudging or trodding through all sorts of weather.

At day’s end we recap the day

Sometimes without or with something left to say.

Eventually falling to sleep

Exhausted from the life we often keep.

For more often than not we want more chances

A chance to give people or things more glances.

To either cherish or complete someone, something.

Trying hard not to live our whole life in vain.

Totally twisted, broken in between

But still not as one would make it seem

I do not pretend to play stupid or dumb

I feel as though, my expressions are all turning numb.

Like a mangled body waiting to be discovered

I wait for someone who will uncover

I cannot be what I used to be

I hardly remember what used to be me

I am mangled and twisted, and hard to figure out

But I assure you I have a will and am not without

Feeling and needs and such

I am normal and that is not too much

Find me when I am mangled

You will find me fragile, as I dangle

It is what it is,

And I guess, that is all there is.

I just wanted to touch base with you as I am trying to stay busy and sometimes do not get to comment on posts that I read. I just wanted to say that you all are very talented and do not think for one moment that you do not have something to offer the world. You really do have something to offer. I am so impressed with the many things I read on a daily basis. You guys rock.

I also wanted to say thank you to the many that follow, read, comment or otherwise on my page. I hope you find something of value and interest and hopefully you enjoy it. I try not to bring out things of conflict or discord, but on occasion there might be something that you do not agree with or what have you but that is fine. We all are individuals and I hope to never squash your personal opinions, thoughts, or feelings. We all need to be sensitive to the needs of others and in doing so, agree to disagree if we feel offended or slighted. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

For those of you that speak a different language I have a translator on y page for help with understanding things better. Hopefully it works well.

I also have a search option on my page for those who want to browse our WordPress, etc.

I am still a rookie when it comes to the fine running of things on my page, but I am a work in progress, so please bear in mind that when looking at my page. I do not have any special skills or what not but I am a quick learner of things. So stay tuned for a better page.

hi-and-hello-6302

I hope wherever you are in life that you take time to smell the roses, as they say, and take notice of the small things in life. It is in the smallest of places that we find true happiness.

I wish you all peace and happiness.
