Turkey Blues by MwsR (haha)

When everyone is late

And all you can do is think about getting a plate

The temperature inside the place

Makes red of your face

Children running here and there

People ignore the kids behavior everywhere

The adults don’t ask to help out

And your gravy gets too stout

The oven cannot keep up with the dishes

You hear comments about Christmas wishes

And all you want to do is eat

But you realize you’re the only one on her feet

The first things cooked start to cool

Everyone knows that’s breaking a serving rule

By the time people start to smell the aroma

The kids try to find their momma

In comes a cascade of kids without their folks

One tries to sneak a taste and starts acting like they’ve choked

Where is all the help and support

I would say that some have gathered outside under the carport

And again as the food finally finishes

You are having to put out all the dishes

Realizing all too late

That you are short a couple plates

Yelling into the other room

You ask someone to find your broom

No one notices your plea

Only what they’re watching on TV

So you go, no one caught the clue

Of course, why not you

After all, this is Thanksgiving blues.

MwsR Poem (from a Diabetic’s perspective)

What I Know(Diabetic’s thoughts)
By MwsR

It just takes one bite
And my sugar stays high all night.
One can of a regular coke
And feeling tired afterward is no joke.
Want to overeat
But knowing inside it will make my blood sugar peak.
At birthday parties pass up on the cake
Because you hate that “sugar high” headache.
Feeling tired all day long
The food you ate and what kind was all wrong.
Wanting to get in shape
Exercising only with enough calorie intake.
Going out on the town to a favorite food place
Catching the frown you’re given from your loved one’s face.
Being told “You know that is wrong to do”,
But asking them, “And just who the heck are you?”
It’s not thought about
Never easy without a doubt.
Diabetes is a complication and disease
But doesn’t have to bring you to your knees.
Take control, take back your life.
Make it count regardless of any strife.

Strength by MwsR Writings

All rights reserved. MwsR2022

The walls I built were never for you, they were for me. The strength it took to keep them erect was much harder than you’d expect. Then one day. many years later, the walls no longer mattered.
It was the strength that I had gained from all of that pain. My world would be forever changed but my heart would live on, go on, and be much more than I’d ever hoped for.
The remnants of the walls remain and sometimes I still sense their presence. I no longer wait with bated breath but with rememberance of what was, what could be.
You’ll never know this because you are not me.
So don’t try to lessen my strength with rumors, you aren’t privy to such a state as mine. I will not run away, or resort to a corner to pine. You will only see what I choose to show you, what I allow. There it is, it is the time and it is now.
Don’t think to hard on this, you will certain be amiss.
Travel on from here, I implore. You don’t belong, not anymore.

The Quiet In The Room by MwsR

There is something that is greater still

Then moments we have expressed

Some things are left unsaid

All you get are echoes of their clarity

Some are remnants of struggles

Of things that leave us perplexed

Often we don’t even notice until

We are contemplating things while sitting by a windowsill

Extraordinary means to a possible surrender

It would seem

Fragile people with broken wishes

Ones that left them disabled in emotional healing

Because of their heart’s feelings

Somewhere there is a quietness in the room

One that all of this and more, consumes.

Jaded experienced people would not understand

The moments that have occurred and thus lent a hand

In the quietness, you find there,

Find anywhere, honestly.

If you are compounded with a lot of stuff

Remember what is can be returned to dust

None of us should forget

The quieter things get the more people have had regrets

The more peace some may find

You’ll know when it is your time.

Poem

Rest by MwsR

When the world is smothering you

And there is nothing you can do

Sit back and take a rest

And rest assured you did your best.

Time is a thief of second chances

With a swift and unexpected way it prances

It comes without apology

And takes what it wants, trust me.

Be satisfied enough with yourself and your decisions

Let them resonate and do the unfolding of their prisms.

Rest while you wait

Don’t overthink, don’t overrate!

You are the one who spent the time

The one who sits alone and spends time in your own mind.

You know what you must do

And what you can’t acquire, just you.

So lay your burdens down

All the pressures of the day that made you frown.

Rest and be okay.

And if your lucky there will be another day.

Poem by MwsR

FALL FOR LOVE

The sweet wind blows

I am thinking of you

Clouds are so big and beautiful

I am so thankful for you

Little birds of red and brown perched nearby

I sometimes miss you when you are gone and cry

Fall brings milder weather and crisp mornings

I love when you smother me with your loving

Oh! the need for warmer clothes and heat

When I am next to you my heart starts a faster beat.

Trees start to change their colors and shed their leaves

The love you give me makes me want to believe

Like Fall our love can change and still remain.
