African Sweet Potato Stew

Ingredients

  • 5 Cups peeled, chopped sweet potatoes
  • 3 Cups sliced (or halved, if small) fresh white mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 Cup small cubes of fresh pineapple
  • 3/4 Cups uncooked green lentils
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 Teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 Teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger or 1⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced, or 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 Cups vegetable broth
  • 1 Cup chopped fresh spinach leaves, lightly packed
  • 1/4 Cup peanut butter
  • 1 Tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/3 Cup chopped peanuts, for garnish

Directions

Grease the interior of the slow cooker crock with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine the sweet potatoes and next 10 ingredients (through broth) in the prepared crock and mix well.

Cover. Cook on Low 3 to 4 1⁄2 hours, or until the sweet potatoes, lentils, and onions are tender.

Add the chopped spinach leaves, peanut butter, and lime juice. Stir well. Cook just until heated through.

Serve in bowls. Top with chopped peanuts.

5 Healthy Foods that are high in Vitamin D/Information Share

The Reference Daily Intake (RDI) is 600 IU of vitamin D per day from foods. If you don’t get enough sunlight, your intake should likely be closer to 1,000 IU per day.

Here are 5 healthy foods that are high in vitamin D.

1. Wild salmon contains about 988 IU of vitamin D per serving, while farmed salmon contains 250 IU, on average. That’s 165% and 42% of the RDI, respectively.

2. Herring contains 1,628 IU of vitamin D per 3.5-ounce (100-gram) serving. Pickled herring, sardines and other fatty fish, such as halibut and mackerel, are also good sources.

3. Cod liver oil contains 450 IU of vitamin D per teaspoon (4.9 ml), or 75% of the RDI. It is also high in other nutrients, such as vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids.

4. Mushrooms can synthesize vitamin D2 when exposed to UV light. Only wild mushrooms or mushrooms treated with UV light are good sources of vitamin D.

5. Oysters are full of nutrients and provide 53% of the RDI for vitamin D. They also contain more vitamin B12, copper and zinc than a multivitamin.

Eating plenty of these vitamin-D-rich foods is a great way to make sure you get enough of this important nutrient.

Carrot Cookie Bites/Recipe Share

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Combine the flour, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in the oats, carrots, and pecans.
  • To freeze cookie dough, see freeze option. To bake immediately, drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375° until lightly browned, 6-8 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Freeze option: Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets. Freeze until firm. Transfer cookie dough balls to resealable plastic freezer bag. May be frozen up to 3 months. To bake, place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

1 cookie: 50 calories, 2g fat (0 saturated fat), 5mg cholesterol, 24mg sodium, 6g carbohydrate (3g sugars, 0 fiber), 1g protein. Diabetic Exchanges: 1/2 starch, 1/2 fat.

DOGGY DIAPERS OR DOG WRAPS

If you have an elder dog that cannot hold their pee , you should think about using these. This particular wrap is for male dogs but you can also buy female dog diapers.

My dog has a tumor and it is on his rear end. I buy the female diapers, that can be washed , for him. It covers his back-end and that protects his tumor area. I wash them and they are great.

Females dogs that go in heat, these washable diapers are the thing to have.

I love my crock pot and really think they are such time savers. You can put something in it and forget it, it has low and high settings and also a warmer option which simply keeps things warm.

Devils Delight

Stranger than fiction it starts and continues

Wondering eyes are trying to follow your every move, hoping to escpaee all that you do not want to endeavor

Dealing with things becomes so mundane

the rest of this life can be a pleasure fair for you if you give in to the devils delight

take a life because no one cares, hurt another because you can. let go of your conscious self and rest in the mirror of a façade. Twisted meaning is given to everything, twisted thought with no moral compass, the devil seeks to dvour us all should we let our guard down for one moment of our little time here on earth he is waiting in our shadows, watching for the right moment to bring us to him. He does not care who is affected see that is the power of selected memories and games he likes to play. He is strong when you think that is wht you need, he is bold when you feel you have no strength, he is fierce in that he can plow down anything that keeps you from being his. He is the master of disguise, master of the night and discourager of the heart. He delights in our demise and our suffering. He makes you see thing sthat are not real, he has you believeing that he is the way to bring about your utter most desires. He thinks that iif you will relax he he aill capture you and your heart. he does not like to fight for your affection if you follow him and partake in his desires or delight he will want you day and night. Things that use to matter will all be obsolved, he will not care for them and will want you not to yourself. He is srange yet the easiest thing youu will ever choose. He makes the things you most want the things you must mhave. He really is clever, wise and cunning. he will offer you the moone and stars and leave you with sadness and disappointment seeking to find something else to comfort you, you will hold out your hands ana dhe will grab onto them and suck you into his ways, his desires, hs Delights. he is vermon and he is the ruler of his twisted kingdom, on this very earth. If you believe him to be light of the world, you will be sorely disappointed.

Simple Paleo Bread/Recipe Share

Simple Bread

Serves:1 loaf (about 12 slices)
Ingredients

  • cups blanched almond flour (not almond meal)
  • ½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine almond flour, salt, and baking soda
  2. In a medium bowl, Whisk the eggs, then add honey, and vinegar
  3. Stir wet ingredients into dry
  4. Scoop batter into a well greased 6.5 x 4 inch small loaf pan
  5. Bake at 300°F for 45-55 minutes on bottom rack of oven; until a knife comes out clean
  6. Cool and serve

To store this bread, wrap in a paper towel, seal in a plastic bag, and refrigerate for up to 1 week.

This low-carb, high-protein, gluten-free bread is a cinch to make. It is especially tasty toasted, then topped with almond-butter, raspberry jam, and a sprinkle of salt. Add a second slice of bread to it and you’ve got a paleo PBJ!
