SILENCE

The sound of silence

That fell on deaf ears

Breaks a heart

And brings on the tears

No one knows the struggle

Unless around you it goes

Holding on for dear life

No matter what strength at it you throw

Uncaged it wiggles away

Only to resurface another day

If only more things could be silent

Inside of creating silence all on their own accord

Silence can be golden if it gives rest to your soul.

I wish this to be, it is something I must know.

Word of the Day : October 9, 2018

ambivalent

adjective am-BIV-uh-lunt
Definition
: having or showing simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings toward something : characterized by ambivalence

Did You Know?
The words ambivalent and ambivalence entered English during the early 20th century in the field of psychology. They came to us through the International Scientific Vocabulary, a set of words common to people of science who speak different languages. The prefix ambi- means “both,” and the -valent and -valence parts ultimately derive from the Latin verb valēre, meaning “to be strong.” Not surprisingly, an ambivalent person is someone who has strong feelings on more than one side of a question or issue.

Examples
Bianca was ambivalent about starting her first year away at college—excited for the new opportunities that awaited but sad to leave her friends and family back home.
“A new study from LinkedIn found that many people feel ambivalent in their careers—wondering if they should stay in the same job or take time to invest in learning new skills or even change to a new path altogether.” — Shelcy V. Joseph, Forbes, 3 Sept. 2018

Ghost/Poem

You have always been a ghost

The one I miss the most

I often think I can visualize you

But that is too unreal to be true

The emptiness that follows, your ghost

Haunts only me though, the most

I wander around always looking and hoping to see

Parts of you that still live on in me

It must be hard to be trapped into the ghost that I created

Because you never saw me grow up or knew me because you were belated

You stay trapped somewhere between my mind and in my heart

I stay a prisoner because of my start

To wander around and never be free

That is the ghost that definitely haunts me.

You cannot rest, and I cannot hide

From all these emotions buried inside

One day, maybe you will be released

If I can finally sort through all this and find me some peace.

Ingredients
Chocolate Ghosts
2 oz. cocoa butter
1.5 oz. cacao powder
2 oz. IMO syrup
1/8 tsp stevia extract (or to taste)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
Roasted spicy macadamia (optional)
1 oz. macadamia nuts
1 tbsp. IMO syrup
1/2 tsp. red hot chilli powder (optional)
Instructions

Chocolate Ghosts
Measure out the needed ingredients. Bring a little water to the boil in a saucepan, and then reduce the heat, so the water is only simmering. Suspend a small to medium size heat resistant bowl over the water. Don’t allow the bowl to touch the simmering water.

Add the cocoa butter. It’s best if you let it melt before you add in other ingredients.

If you wish, add in spicy roasted macadamia (or other nuts) – see further instructions.

Mix, until all the ingredients are melted and well combined.

Warning: Do not let any water come in the bowl!

Add as much stevia extract as you like, to taste. As for all other spices or salt, add them if you wish. I, myself, love a bit salted chocolate, with red hot chili powder added to it.

Pour the chocolate into silicone ghost molds or small bowls or plates, lined with parchment paper. Put into the fridge for at least 30 minutes to set. Enjoy the scary chocolate!

Roasted Spicy Macadamia (optional)
If not already coarsely ground, put the nuts into an S-blade food processor and pulse a few times.
Put nuts and chili powder in a small pot and roast for a couple of minutes. Make sure you don’t burn the nuts.

When roasted, mix in IMO syrup and roast for another half a minute.

Add the nuts into the runny chocolate while still in the bowl, or sprinkle them on the chocolate in the molds.

The nutritional info above includes macadamia nuts.
