Poem

Real by MwsR

Just like a song

You’re playing your life

All wrong.

Never happy

Never satisfied

No, I’m not being sappy!

In an instant

Your life here was no more

That day you were persistent.

You chose to run

I tried to stop you

But it had only just begun.

A hole inside me

Where once you were

Your choice, you see.

Moving on

Staying still

A different pawn

Choices we make

Can bend us or be all too much

Try being real now…not fake.

Standing in decisions

Means getting dirty sometimes

Stitching up a life means first cleaning the incisions.

Sometimes it’s in following dreams

You forget to fix the holes

Never fully fixing it, it seems.

Let the rest of it

Be real, not a mimic

So you’ll have a life you fit.

Jasper by MwsR

May the world see the beauty and sweetness in your eyes

Hoping that inside you will know it too, and will always see

Beautiful spirit that shines within all you do

A gift from above, it’s true

I love you.

I hope you always know I am here to stand by your side

That you feel warmth in your heart, like the sunlight

You are so special to us all

I hope you never feel small, but tall

I love you.

You will be changing, who ever meets you

Can’t wait to see all you can do!

I love you.

Jasper, my heart grew the day you came into being

You’ve definitely gave my life more meaning!

My grandson, with eyes crystal blue

I will always love you.

Baking Soda May…

Reduce Premature Death.

Research published this month in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology found that having balanced baking soda, or bicarbonate, levels in your body could reduce your chances of an early death.

The study examined data compiled in the Health, Aging and Body Composition Study for 2,287 participants. Participants were healthy adults who, at the onset of the study in 1997, were between the ages of 70 and 79, and were followed for approximately 10 years. Survival data were gathered through February 2014.

What did they find?

Study author Dr. Kalani Raphael, associate professor and nephrology and hypertension specialist at the University of Utah, and colleagues investigated pH, carbon dioxide, and bicarbonate in association with long-term survival. According to the University of Utah press release, “Critically ill patients with severe acid-base abnormalities have a very low likelihood of surviving their illness, but it’s unclear whether more subtle changes in the body’s acid-base status have an effect on the longevity of relatively healthy older people.”

Raphael and colleagues found that low levels of bicarbonate may be linked to an increased risk for premature death by 24 percent. Sodium bicarbonate assists your body in balancing pH levels, possibly extending life. “What we found was that generally healthy older people with low levels of bicarbonate had a higher risk of death,” Raphael said. “Adding the pH measurement into the equation didn’t change the results, which is important because pH is not routinely measured.”

The study’s findings may assist clinicians in better assessing a patient’s risk of premature death by analyzing their blood bicarbonate concentrations more closely. Clinicians can recommend dietary adjustments to patients with low bicarbonate concentrations to optimize health.

Greatest Woe by MwsR

This old world can bring sadness

There are people ruled by their madness

The majority of us are brokenhearted

Separated and our loved ones have departed.

The greatest woe a person can feel

Is ridiculously hard, if you don’t take time to kneel

Pondering the events that eventually will come

When you or your loved one

Has a tragedy, a happening, or occurrence of pain

The kind that swiftly transforms what is in your brain

It will wipe your joy and laughter, right out the door

Take with it anything it wants to implore

Woe has it’s own recommendations,

It wants to create some new creations

Regardless of race, creed, culture, or color

It will grab hold, till you feel like you should hollar

You can fight, but without something greater,

Your greatest woe makes you shout louder

It shares nothing and takes it all

Even those memories you’ve been able to recall

The greatest woe comes from some of the doubt and fear

A whole lot of disappointments, a lot of tears

A bundle created and made just for you

It is there, always waiting, to.

So, if you don’t want to feel it

Don’t let it!

Learn to put emotions in their proper place,

Walk around with a smile upon your face

For no reason at all

Those tears will sometimes fall

But that means you are still able, still alive

To recreate your heart and your life.

No sense in letting things dwell

When your heart has the power to heal

To change you from the inside out.

That is what I am talking about!

War With Ourselves, by MwsR

Do you battle anyone who chooses differently than you do?

Is there not anything good that happens to you?

Maybe turn and look real hard at your own self,

Look at the blame you’ve bestowed on everyone else.

Maybe, just maybe, it happened the way it did because of your actions.

Just maybe it was because of your reactions.

The hardest thing can be analyzing

Seeing what’s wrong and start focusing to remove the things that are paralyzing.

Instead of laying blame,

Try to get rid of your own shame.

Nothing can be done until you stop and think

Sometimes things happen in a blink.

Quit talking, gossiping, and stop tearing down

We all have an occasion to wear a frown.

Maybe it’s you, you are the one

Maybe our war is with ourselves, not with someone.
