WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF FISTIC?

Fistic “pertaining to the fists or boxing” is a transparent compound of the English noun fist and the adjective suffix –icFist comes from Old English fȳst and is closely related to Dutch vuist and German Faust. The thoroughly naturalized suffix –ic derives from Latin –icus and Greek –ikos and was originally applied to Latin or Greek nouns (such as metallicmusicpoeticpublic). Fistic is a facetious synonym of pugilistic, which is a derivative of Latin pugil “fist fighter, boxer.” Pugil is akin to pugna “fist” and its derived verb pugnāre “to fight,” ultimate source of English pugnacious. All of the Latin words are related to the Greek adverb pýx “with the fist,” and the noun pygmḗ “fist, fistfight, boxing,” also a measure of length from the elbow to the knuckles (of the fist). Fistic entered English in the early 19th century.

HOW IS FISTIC USED?

Yes, boxing and the other fistic and grappling arts are still with us, driven by the popularity of mixed martial arts and Ultimate Mixed Fighting bouts.WILLIAM PORTER, “METRO DENVER GYMS OFFER A WORKOUT FOR EVERYONE,” DENVER POST, JULY 7, 2014

To continue in fistic phraseology, he had a genius for coming up to the scratch, wherever and whatever it was, and proving himself an ugly customer. … He was certain to knock the wind out of common sense …CHARLES DICKENS, HARD TIMES, 1854

Yes! You can Eat Bread And Stay Healthy

Slide 1 of 19: When most people embark on a new diet, the first thing that seems to get the boot is the bread. But carbs shouldn't always be the dietary scapegoat. Dropping them from your diet will depress your taste buds, and it could actually prevent you from achieving lasting, healthy weight loss. Instead of cutting carbs completely, simply switch to one of the healthiest bread loaves you can buy in the bread aisle. How nutritionists choose the healthiest bread. Not all loaves of bread are created equal, and what makes the healthiest bread lies in the ingredients. "Bread has a bad rap for being full of fillers and additives, high in carbs, and sometimes even sugar. When grocery shopping, it is important to keep your eyes out for ingredients such as partially hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, and soy—I never buy bread that has those ingredients on the label!" says registered dietitian Kelly Springer, MS, RD, CDN.Certain slices will offer your body absolutely no nutrition while others have the opportunity to fill you up with fiber and energy-boosting whole grains. (Yes, there are best bread loaves for weight loss out there!) Not to mention, some varieties today go even further and pack healthy, satiating fats into the mix by adding nuts and seeds. So if you absolutely can't live without bread, use this list of 8 healthiest bread options you can find at the grocery store, and 10 you should avoid at all costs. The 8 Healthiest Breads to Eat for Weight Loss (msn.com)

Slide 5 of 19: Nutrition per 2 slices: 120 calories, 1.5 g fat, 0 g sat fat, 220 mg sodium, 26 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 3 g sugar, 6 g protein One of the main reasons for choosing whole grain bread is for the fiber content. "You want to look for greater than 3 grams of fiber—greater than 3 grams of fiber is considered a good source and greater than 5 grams is considered an excellent source of fiber," says Crandall. Beyond looking for that whole grain stamp, it's important to scan through the label for fiber content as well so you can be sure you're getting the most bang for your buck. The majority of Americans are not getting enough fiber in their diets to begin with, so by picking a bread with a decent amount you can make that bread work beyond just appeasing your taste buds and carb cravings. at Instacart Buy Now

Christmas…by MwsR

It is certainly not about who is good or naughty

Now don’t misunderstand me and go-getting haughty.

I think of Christmas as a market made for money

I know some of you are thinking that’s not very funny.

But it is true.

I know you see you, you do.

It should be a celebration of Christ’s birth

The whole frankincense and myrrh.

But sadly I see people so obsessed with gift-giving

Instead, they’re emphasizing all the receiving.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying to be a scrooge

Just have a heart that gives love and love will ensue.

Think about widows and homeless people

Think about those you encounter that come worship under the same steeple.

People are fighting just to have a reason

To see the magic in this Christmas season.

They may never know till you take the time to show

It’s not something you can find wrapped up with a bow.

It is what Christmas should represent

It was that hope that God had sent.

His son, the newborn king

The one who gives us everything.

The reason for this Holiday.

The time to get on your knees and pray,

And thank him for the Lord of all of us

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
