While changing your diet won’t cure diabetes, it can lower your risk for type 2 diabetes complications, such as heart disease and neuropathy (nerve damage). Prioritizing a healthy eating plan is even more crucial now, as the novel coronavirus rages on in the United States and beyond. That’s because people with diabetes are among the groups at a higher risk for complications from COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Keeping your blood glucose in check has never been more important, and food can play a big role in that effort. In fact, diet affects type 2 diabetes in several ways, including glucose regulation, heart health, weight maintenance, and mood.

A Vitamin That Could Ward Off Dementia

According to the World Health Organization, more than 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia, “a syndrome – usually of a chronic or progressive nature – that leads to deterioration in cognitive function (i.e. the ability to process thought) beyond what might be expected from the usual consequences of biological aging.” The most common symptoms of dementia include memory loss, becoming lost in familiar places, changes in learning or thinking and becoming confused while at home, but taking a daily multivitamin might help slow cognitive delay according to a new study.

Once a year for three years, the participants underwent a series of tests that evaluated their overall cognitive function, memory and executive function. Those who took a daily multivitamin showed a statistically significant improvement in memory and executive function associated with normal and pathological aging, including Alzheimer's disease, compared to the placebo group in the first two years of the study, the researchers found. After that, the benefits plateaued. No benefits were observed in the group taking the cocoa supplement. The multivitamin appeared to slow cognitive decline by about 60 percent, or the equivalent of 1.8 years."RELATED: This Makes You Look 20 Years Older, Say Experts

National Homemade Bread Day(Homeschool)

Today I looked up holidays that are observed around the world. Today was National Homemade Bread Day. I have been homeschooling for months, but we have not yet made any food. I was thinking of letting the kids make a simple homemade bread today. What do you think? It is with fond memories I recollect my own grandmother cooking in her kitchen and also helping her on occasion. This would be a good experience and so yes, I will celebrate National Homemade Bread Day and incorporate that into today’s learning. I can’t wait, after all, my favorite thing is BREAD!
