Love Is a Gift

If someone can love you through the years

Catch most of your falling tears,

Help bad things seem, not so bad

Forgive you, even when you make them mad

Share with you their dreams and wishes

Helps you put away the dishes

Listens when you need them to

That’s the one who’ll be real and true.

Cherish them

Forgive them

Hold their hand, for apparently no occasion

Sport them like the latest fashion.

Love can be great

Take time to appreciate.

Make a world for them to stay in

Not a mess that hurts deep within.

You’ll be much happier, stronger, and tall

When you help them succeed, instead of fall.

Love is a gift

And the people that give it.

One that brings happiness, not the blues

A love to give you tenfold, back what you give

A warmness that follows you as you live

That start of a smile

That makes it all worthwhile

Patience, forgiveness, and no attitude

Just gladness, endurance, and gratitude

One that never dictates your actions, going forward

Never makes you hide your true self, inward

A touch that makes your skin crawl

A peace, after you had a bawl.

A security that gives us courage

Endless compliments, as you age

A sense of belonging

A filler, for your longing

A love like that
